Outbound flow from Russia increased by more than 12%
Over the three quarters of 2023, the outbound flow from Russia amounted to 21 020 012 people, which is 12,4% higher compared to the same period in 2022.
As ATOR reports with reference to data from the Border Service, outbound tourist flow from Russia to the key foreign tourist destinations over the nine months of 2023 increased by 22,9% compared to the whole 2022.
TOP 10 countries where Russians mostly traveled to in January - September, according to the data from the national statistical departments of the respective countries, is the following:
Turkey (5 166 005 departures);
UAE (1 217 653);
Abkhazia (1 200 000);
Thailand (991 773);
Egypt (919 571);
China (614 790);
Maldives (156 323);
Sri Lanka (132 300);
Cuba (120 065);
Serbia (104 666).
Also in the TOP 25 tourist destinations, based on the results of three quarters of 2023, are India, Qatar, Iran, South Korea, Seychelles, Oman, Bahrain, Ethiopia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Venezuela, Algeria, Morocco and Laos.
In total, Russians made 11 million trips to 25 countries, mainly for the purpose of tourism and recreation.
