Cuban resort Varadero is opened for Russian tourists
The main Cuban resort is returning to the Russian market. The headquarters for the prevention of the import and spread of a new coronavirus infection in Russia decided to increase the number of regular flights with Cuba from April 1 (up to seven flights a week on the Moscow-Varadero route).
According to the Cuban Embassy in Russia, Varadero is ready to accept Russian tourists, providing them appropriate comfortable holidays in safe epidemiological conditions.
Many hotel complexes, which were forced to suspend service due to a decrease in the number of foreign tourists, will resume work on the island before the return of the Russians.
Potentially Russian air carriers can deliver from 2 500 to 3 500 tourists per week to Varadero. Airlines Azur Air (tour operators Anex Tour and Intourist), NordWind (tour operator PegasTouristik) and Royal Flight (tour operator Coral Travel) already have permits for regular flights to the Cuban resort.
“Cuba is the only Caribbean country where there are direct flights. However, it is important to take into account that in order to calculate and arrange tours, more clarity is needed for possible flights and permits,” Anex Tour commented on the situation.
As the Embassy of Cuba in Russia informed, the entry of group tourists to the resort of Varadero will be carried out according to the same protocols as it happens now when visiting Cayo Coco.
The Russians will need a certificate of a negative PCR test for coronavirus, made 72 hours before the departure of the flight. Upon arrival in Cuba, tourists undergo another PCR test for COVID-19, the result of which will be ready in 24 hours.
