Russian tourists are actively interested in tours to Greece after the news about the opening of the destination on May 14, but there has not yet been a surge in real bookings.

The Greek airline Ellinair, part of the international travel holding Mouzenidis Group, is resuming its flight program from Moscow to Greece, starting in March 2021. The program provides 4 points of arrival in Greece.

Greece has extended its entry permit for Russian tourists until February 22. As before, up to 500 tourists from the Russian Federation can visit the country per week.

Russian tour operators try to help doctors: the first action of the travel industry in their support is launched today.

The Greek government has developed a quarantine exit plan, according to which the relaxation of restrictions will begin in mid-May.

Tour operators and representatives of travel agencies note a significant increase in sales of tours to Greece at the stage of early booking.

According to market participants, at the stage of early booking the demand for tours to Greece for the summer of 2020 is ahead of last year from 10 to 35%. Tour operators are expanding their flight programs.

In annual terms, the total volume of Russian citizens in Bahrain increased by almost 2 times, and the number of trips with tourism purposes increased by 2,2 times. Such positive dynamics is connected with the expansion of the volume of flight programs of federal tour operators and the appearance of new leading players.

Next in line are the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Oman.  The press service of the tour operator explained enter on the Qatari destination by an expansion of the range of tours, allowing to work effectively also in low season.  “Qatar is the country most promising to the price-quality ratio among the countries of the Middle East,” the representatives of the tour operator said.  According to the specialists of Mouzenidis Travel, taking into account visa-free entry to Qatar, this region has every chance to become in demand for business and corporate events.

Mouzenidis Group holding and the hotel chain Cronwell Hotels & Resorts will launch in 2019 a chain of hotels under the co-brand Bomo Collection By Cronwell in Northern Greece. 

In the summer season of 2018, the tour operator Mouzenidis Travel planned a 30% growth of volumes. The greatest increase will be on Greek islands: there will be a two-fold increase only for Crete due to an exclusive flight to Chania. The tour operator also opens other new directions.

“Tour operators TUI Russia and Mouzenidis Travel have created a strategic alliance in order to expand the range of offered programs in Greece”, - representatives of both companies said at a press conference on February 5. "TUI Russia up to now was focused on Crete and Corfu, Mouzenidis Travel has traditionally very strong positions in Northern Greece.

More than 30 thousand Russians have already booked tours to Greece for the 2017 season in the tour operator "Mouzenidis Travel". Over 1,000 of them will spend holidays at the resorts of Athens and Pieria. It was said by CEO "Mouzenidis Travel" Alexander Tsandekidi on business meeting with travel agents.

In the list of the most popular destinations, Greece declined from the 4 to the 5 position. At the same time, tour operators do not observe a fall in volumes in the destination, in the worst case they are talking about last year's results.
