Rising prices in Turkey have increased demand for Greece

This year Greece’s early booking program is more active than in the past. This was stated in the leading tour operators companies - Ambotis Holidays, ANEX Tour, Biblio-Globus, Mouzenidis Travel and TEZ TOUR. The growth in sales of different tour operators ranges from 10 to 46%. 

According to tour operators, at the moment the benefit for tourists in the framework of early booking action reaches 40% for a number of hotels. “The main reason for the growth is a noticeable increase in the cost of trips to Turkey against the background of a stable price for tours to Greece,” says Vitaly Stamatov, the General Director of Ambotis Holidays. 

Dimitris Haritidis, the head of the Greek office of TEZ TOUR, confirms: despite the fact that the cost of living in hotels in Greece has increased by an average of 5-10% in Euros, it is still less than in Turkey. As a result, in his opinion, in the season 2019 Turkey will not be able to atract as many tourists as it did last year. 

As for air transportation - it is balanced. Tour operators do not plan to significantly increase the volume of air transportation on the destination. In general, observers do not expect significant results for the summer season due to the unstable economic situation. But an increase in sales in the range of 10–20% is considered as quite possible.
