Tourist flow to Bahrain doubled thanks to tour operators

The tourist flow from Russia to Bahrain this year has more than doubled. According to the FSB Border Service, for the first 9 months of 2019, 17 736 citizens of the Russian Federation came in Bahrain on direct flights, 86% of them with tourist purpose. In annual terms, the total volume of Russian citizens in Bahrain increased by almost 2 times, and the number of trips with tourism purposes increased by 2,2 times.

Such positive dynamics is connected with the expansion of the volume of flight programs of federal tour operators and the appearance of new leading players. So, in the autumn of this year, Tui Russia arranges package tours on the basis of regular flights of Gulf Air to Bahrain. Bahrain also appeared in the assortment of the tour operator Mouzenidis Travel. Intourist and Russian Express tour operators increase sales on the basis of regular flights.

The volume of charter transportation in the destination has grown too. In the 2019-2020 season, the tour operator Coral Travel, the only organizer of the charter chain to Bahrain, flies to Manama three times a week (last year, flights were 2 times a week). According to Marina Makarkova, the head of the PR department, novelty, prices and leisure activities “make the destination attractive” and increase demand.

The interest in Bahrain is growing, say experts of the tour operator Intourist, who opened the sale of the destination in the autumn of 2018. Among the reasons of attractiveness, the company names both the general increase of direct transportation volumes (the weekly frequency of Gulf Air flights also has increased this season) and the development of the tourist infrastructure in Bahrain.
