After a break caused by the pandemic, the 19th Azerbaijan International Travel and Tourism Fair AITF 2023 will reopen its doors at Baku Expo Center from 4 to 6 April. The organiser of the event is the Caspian Event Organisers company. Traditionally one of the leading events in the tourism sector of the entire region, the AITF exhibition brings together the leading players in the industry, provides them with the opportunity to establish new contacts, significantly expand the geography of sales and learn about the latest innovations and trends in the tourism industry.

According to the Border Service, in 2019, Russian citizens made 48 072 285 trips in 176 foreign countries and territories. This is 7,9% more than in 2018 (44 551 092).

Russian tourists are on the first position in spending in Azerbaijan among foreign travelers, last year they spent about $ 350 million.

In 2019, 930 thousand Russian tourists visited Azerbaijan, which is 6% more than a year earlier. Russian tourists began more often to come here for 4 to 7 nights, as well as in low season.

Russian tourists made up a third of all tourist visits of Azerbaijan, their number increased by 49 thousand people or 6%.

2,68 million tourists visited Azerbaijan in January-October, which is almost 11% more than for the same period last year, the country's State Tourism Agency (GAT) told. The largest tourist flow was from Russia and Georgia.

In January-September 2019, 2 million 415,9 thousand tourists visited Azerbaijan, which is 9,6% more than the same period last year. At the same time, the largest shares of tourist flow are from Russia and Georgia.

Other countries of the Transcaucasus, Armenia and Azerbaijan, where tour operators saw a noticeable increase, benefited from the closure of Georgia. Also, Turkey, the Black Sea coast of Russia and Abkhazia note an increase of the Russian tourist flow. This assessment was voiced at a press conference by the executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze

“In January-April 2019, Azerbaijan was visited by 847,902 thousand foreign tourists, which is 0.2% more than in comparison with the same period of 2018,” the press service of the State Agency for Tourism informs. 

“In January-May 2018 Azerbaijan was visited by 1 million 55.6 thousand foreign citizens from 184 countries”, - reported the State Statistics Committee. "The number of foreign citizens visiting Azerbaijan increased by 10.1% in comparison with the same period of 2009. The share of tourists from Russian Federation was 29.3%, Georgia - 22%, Iran - 12.1%, Turkey - 11.3% %, the UAE - 4%", - it was noted in the department.

“The number of tourists who visited Azerbaijan in January-October 2017 increased by 20.1% against the same period of 2016 - up to 2 million 276,604 thousand people”, - informs the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. "For 10 months of 2017, Azerbaijan was visited by 2 million 276,604 thousand tourists against 1 million 894,707 people in January-October 2016", - the ministry said.

AVIAREPS, the company representing tourism, aviation and hospitality organisations, has expanded its international market presence with the opening of an office in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku. The new office is responsible for conducting General Sales Agent (GSA), marketing, PR and trade promotion activities for airlines, destinations, tourism services and other representative activities for both the markets of Azerbaijan and neighbouring Georgia.

“The airline company "Pobeda" has launched scheduled flights from Moscow to Baku from October 30 with an intermediate stop at the airport of Rostov-on-Don”, - reported the general director of "Pobeda" Andrey Kalmykov at a press conference in Rostov on Tuesday. We are starting to fly from Rostov airport on several destinations.
