In 2019, 3,17 million foreign citizens visited Azerbaijan, of which 2,9 million visited the country with tourism purpose. The number of Russian tourists in 2019 amounted to 840,6 thousand people (an increase of 6,1% compared to 2018) or 29,3% of the total tourist flow to the country.

The Russians most often visited Azerbaijan with the purpose of recreation and entertainment (391,7 thousand people) and visiting relatives and friends (326 thousand people).
According to the source, foreign tourists prefer to come to Azerbaijan for a period 4 - 7 days (1,2 million people or 43% of the total tourist flow). Last year, 423,6 thousand tourists from the Russian Federation visited Azerbaijan for 4-7 days, 172,3 thousand people for 1-3 days, 120,1 thousand for a period of 8 to 14 days.
