In January-May almost every third tourist in Azerbaijan was from Russia

“In January-May 2018 Azerbaijan was visited by 1 million 55.6 thousand foreign citizens from 184 countries”, - reported the State Statistics Committee. "The number of foreign citizens visiting Azerbaijan increased by 10.1% in comparison with the same period of 2009. The share of tourists from Russian Federation was 29.3%, Georgia - 22%, Iran - 12.1%, Turkey - 11.3% %, the UAE - 4%", - it was noted in the department. "The greatest increase of tourist flow was from the Persian Gulf countries, for example, the number of Kuwaiti citizens who visited Azerbaijan increased 6 times, Bahrain 2.4 times, Qatar 1.9 times, Saudi Arabia 1.9 times, Iraq 1.5 times, Oman – by 32.4%, UAE by 6.8%", - underlined the State Statistics Committee. At the same time, the number of Iranian citizens who visited Azerbaijan in January-May of this year decreased by 11.3% against the same period of the last year, The flow of tourists to Azerbaijan from CIS countries in January-May 2018 increased by 7.4% in comparison with the same period of 2017 – up to 367.4 thousand people. 42,600 people (an increase of 12.6%) visited Azerbaijan from European countries. According to statistics, the number of Azerbaijani citizens who went abroad in January-May 2018 against the same period of 2017 increased by 3.3% - up to 1 million 645.6 thousand people.
