Tourist flow from Russia to Azerbaijan approached one million in 2019
In 2019, 930 thousand Russian tourists visited Azerbaijan, which is 6% more than a year earlier, the press service of the country's tourism bureau reported.
"Most came in the summer. The total foreign flow to the country increased by 11%. The number of guests from the UK, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Belarus, China, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, has noticeably increased,” the press service said.
"Russia is a key tourist partner for Azerbaijan. We connect the increase in tourist flow from Russia with excellent transport accessibility, the absence of visas, and investment in promoting Azerbaijan as a tourist destination. Russian tourists began more often to come here for 4 to 7 nights, as well as in low season," – the tourism bureau noted.
The press service added that in 2019, the historic center of the ancient city of Sheki with the Khan Palace were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. And the magazine Nat Geo Traveler recognized Azerbaijan as "the best destination for sightseeing holidays."
