Almost 70 thousand Russian tourists visited South Korea in the first quarter of 2018
The Russian tourist flow to South Korea in January-March 2018 grew by almost 14%. Tour operators forecast that the demand for the direction in the spring-summer period will be even more active, first off all thanks to the advertising campaign, organized by the National Tourism Office of the Republic of Korea in Russia (NUTC). According to preliminary information for the first three months of 2018 68,000 Russian tourists visited Korea, which is 13.6% more than in the same period of the past year. Russian travelers, in particular, were interested in the Olympic facilities of Korea: in February the tourist flow from Russian Federation showed an increase of 17.4% (21 thousand tourists from Russian Federation). The increasing of the number of Russian arrivals is expected in April, when the time of cherry blossoms is beginning in Korea, which is traditionally considered as a high period. NUTC hopes on the interest of Russian tourists to their country in the summer season. The Tourist Office has already launched an online campaign in social networks "Sea vacation in Korea", it is also planned to advertise the summer season in Korea together with tour operators. About the fact that the demand for tours to South Korea is growing, also say tour operators working on the direction. According to Svetlana Firsova, the Head of the Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea and French Polynesia department of PAX tour operator there is noticeable growth of booking of South Korea. "There are a lot of bookings for May holidays, for summer holidays in Busan or Jeju", - the expert says.
