The tourist season is opened in Greece, but without Russians
The first foreign tourists in Greece were expected from June 15, the prospects for flights from Russia are still not clear. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the opening of the tourist season in Greece, he told reporters: “Greek tourism is returning. From Monday, we are ready to host guests with legendary Greek hospitality. ”
He recalled that from June 15, international flights are returning to Athens and Thessaloniki. And in two weeks, from July 1, it will be possible to arrive to almost all points in Greece.
According to the rules, all passengers, arriving from airports which the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recognized as high-risk due to the possibility of spreading the infection, will undergo mandatory testing in Greece. Passengers with a positive result will be quarantined for 14 days at the expense of the Greek government.
The document, which entered into force on June 5, defined such airports in nine EU countries, in particular - Italy, France, Belgium and the UK. Also the document contains a list of 28 other countries, including Russia. The risk of coronavirus, according to EASA, remains at the airports of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk, Rostov and several other regions of Russia.
The question of when the tourists of Russia will be able to fly to Greece remains opened. On the one hand, the Greek Embassy in Moscow has resumed accepting visa documents for those who intend to come to the country after July 15. On the other hand, the answer to this question depends on the date of lifting of restrictions from the Russian government. Now only holders of a residence permit, citizens traveling with the purpose of study, treatment or care for close relatives can leave Russia. Border control may require supporting documents.
