Greece announced the start of the tourist season
The tourist season in Greece starts on June 15. From this date, seasonal hotels are allowed to be opened. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. According to him, from July 1, Greece will begin to host foreign tourists. Since this date international air traffic to the main tourist destinations will be resumed.
Greece denied from the original idea of requiring documents from visitors on absence of COVID-19. Tourists will be tested (selectively) on coronavirus upon arrival.
Greece hopes for Russian tourists in the 2020 season. According to Tatyana Pospergelis, PR manager of the representative office of the Hellenic National Tourism Organization (GNTO), “Russian tourists are expected as soon as conditions permit and the borders open.”
The representative of the Greek tourism expressed hope that by the time Russian tourists arrive in Greece, the “mask” regime will be canceled in the country, although the rules of social distance must be preserved for the safety of tourists themselves.
Tatyana Pospergelis said about the project to send Russian doctors who are fighting coronavirus to Greece for holidays. This initiative is supported by GNTO and ATOR.
“As soon as the borders are opened, Russian doctors will be able to go to Greece to enjoy their vacations,” she said.
As for the resumption of the work of consulates and visa centers in the Russian Federation, this information is not yet available. Perhaps it will appear in the coming week. “We are in close cooperation with the consulates of Greece in the Russian Federation. Greece is safe and waiting for tourists,” said Tatyana Pospergelis.
