Due to aviation sanctions, the access of Russian tourists to the Caribbean is very limited. Now, tourists need to fly to Cuba, Mexico or the Dominican Republic with one or two connections. The most accessible Caribbean country is Venezuela, which is connected with Russia by direct flights.
Nowadays, tours to the Caribbean are being sold, for example, by Anex Tour (Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic), Coral Travel (Mexico, Dominican Republic), Tez Tour (Venezuela), Kmp Group (Mexico and Dominican Republic).
Tour operators that now offer tours to these countries include in the package only GDS-based transportation. Another option is to purchase only accommodation at hotels.
Market participants note that there is a demand for the Caribbean in the summer. But the demand is constrained primarily by the difficulties of air transportation and its high price.
“The possible flight options to Mexico now are as follows: Moscow - Dubai - USA - Cancun or Moscow - Istanbul - Cancun. Flights to Cuba are also possible via Istanbul. To the Dominican Republic tourists can fly only through the USA: Moscow - Dubai - USA - Punta Cana,” Coral travel explains.
The exception is Venezuela, with which Russia has direct flights by the Venezuelan carrier Conviasa. Guaranteed blocks of seats on these flights are available from the tour operator Tez Tour.
Before the sanctions, it was possible to fly to Cuba for 1 010 Euros (per person, round trip). At the moment, the cost of an air ticket to Havana in economy class is 5 750 Euros.
At the same time, accommodation component in the Caribbean practically did not rise in price. According to Anex Tour, a 4* hotel in Cuba for a week in July will cost from 388 Euros for two, all inclusive.
