Two leading Russian tour operators Anex Tour and Intourist have confirmed the expansion of the Turkish Airlines flight program from the Russian regions.

On the eve of the May holidays, the tour operator Intourist will launch a flight program on Turkish Airlines to Antalya from three cities at once.

Russian tourists still have a choice. They can go on vacation to Turkey, Egypt, the Caribbean, North Africa, Southeast Asia, as well as Belarus, Armenia and Abkhazia.

Consumer preferences of clients of tour operators choosing holidays in Turkey have not changed. They still prefer high category hotels.

The tour operator Biblio-Globus expands the geography of flights to Turkey and Egypt. Flights from St. Petersburg are added to the flight programs from Moscow.

Another major tour operator announced the launch of its own flight program to Turkey. On April 28, Intourist's own flight program starts from Mineralnye Vody to Antalya. The flight program will be implemented in cooperation with Azimut Airlines on Russian SSJ-100 aircraft.

Anex Tour has confirmed the flight program of Turkish Airlines from 4 Russian cities. The start of the flight program from Moscow is scheduled for April 29, 2022, like the other two players of the “big Turkish three”.

In March, the prices for tours to Turkey have increased by more than 80% compared to mid-February.

Russia was the leader in tourist arrivals to Turkey in January 2022, breaking the record before the start of the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Turkish ministry, 1 286 666 trips were made to the country in January 2022, of which more than 134 000 were made by Russians.

Ural Airlines canceled flights to Thailand and Turkey.

Charter programs of tour operators to Turkey and Egypt continue to be implemented. The crisis did not affect flights to other eastern destinations.

The demand for foreign holidays during the May holidays is still behind the pre-Covid 2019 period by about 10%. The most popular destination for Russian tourists during this period is Turkey.

While European countries are rapidly closing for Russian tourists, flights to the most massive destinations - to Egypt and Turkey - continue to be operated. There are no prerequisites for closing these countries for Russians now.

Egypt became the leader of the winter season 2021-2022 among organized tourists. At the same time, Russian resorts were in the second place, displacing Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

At the end of 11 months of 2021, Russia is a leader of foreign tourist flow to Turkey. In January-November, 4 555 047 tourist visits of Russian citizens were registered in Turkey (the share of the total tourist flow is 20%).

In 2022, the volume of Russian tourist flow to Turkey will reach pre-covid indicators and amount to about 10 million tourists.

In total, from January to September, Russians made 4,6 million trips abroad for tourism purposes. This is 50% more than a year earlier (3 million). But three times less than in the same period of the pre-pandemic 2019 (14,2 million).

About a million Russians visited the Republic in October this year. The share of Russian tourists amounted to 20,7% of the total foreign tourist flow.

In 2022, Turkey can receive up to 8 million Russian tourists, exceeding its pre - covid level and setting an absolute record in the entire history of tourism in this country.

In the winter season 2021/2022, Coral Travel will carry out charter flights from most regions until December, and from some cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Ufa, Yekaterinburg and several others) – all the winter season.

Representatives of the tour operators said that, after President Vladimir Putin announced a non-working week in November, sales of tours to Turkey and Egypt have grown by 30 - 35%.

For the nine months of 2021, Russians made 5,24 million trips to open and popular countries for the purpose of tourism. The volume of outbound tourist traffic is far behind the indicators of 2019.

In the first half of 2021, the most popular destinations among Russian travelers were Turkey, Cyprus and Greece.

In September, demand for international trips was 25–40% greater than in the same time the previous year, sales growth depend on the destination.

For the period from 01.01- 19.09.2021, 2 275 929 passengers arrived from the Russian Federation in Antalya on 9 509 flights. The share of Russia in the foreign tourist flow in Antalya is 37,41%.
