For the first time Russia did not enter the top three in terms of tourist flow to Turkey in the first quarter
The reduction of air transportation abroad led to a decrease of the flow of tourists from Russia to Turkey in the first quarter. The main drop was in March - minus 52%. It follows from the statistics of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic.
According to the ministry, the flow of tourists from Russia to Turkey in March amounted to 114,4 thousand, which is 52% less than in the same period last year. The country did not even enter the top three - Iran (274,8 thousand), Germany (187,2 thousand) and Bulgaria (169,6 thousand). Over 2 million foreign travelers visited Turkey in March.
In addition, Russia did not enter the top 3 in terms of tourist flow to Turkey in January-March 2022 either. In the first quarter, 360,7 thousand Russians visited the country, which is 9% less than a year earlier. In the first place is Iran (502,2 thousand), in the second - Germany (418,4 thousand), and in the third - Bulgaria (408,4 thousand). In total, 4,9 million guests visited Turkey in January-March.
Most often, foreign tourists in January-March visited Istanbul (2,9 million, a share of 59,2%), the provinces of Edirne (606 thousand, 12,3%), Antalya (450,4 thousand, a share of 9,2%) , Artvin (163.5 thousand, 3,3%) and Shirnak (119,3 thousand, 2,4%).
