Russian tourist flow to Spain increased by 11% for seven months
According to the data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Spain, in January-July 2019, 758 200 Russian tourists visited Spain, which is 11,2% higher than the figure for the same period a year earlier. Totally, over 7 months, 48 million foreign tourists visited Spain, which is 1,9% more than in January-July 2018. The largest number of tourists came from the UK (10,475 million people, 1,6% less than for the same period last year), from Germany (6,587 million, + 2,2%) and France (6,119 million, -1,2%).
In July, the number of foreign tourists in Spain amounted to 9 887 000, which is 1,3% less compared to the same period last year. The tourist flow from Russia in July grew by 5,2% - to 184 000 people. The most popular holiday destination in Spain for 7 months was Catalonia. On the second line are the Balearic Islands, on the third - the Canary Islands. For seven months, Madrid was visited by 4 482 000 tourists (+ 9,4%). In July, Catalonia also became the most popular destination (2,377 million, -2,1%).
