In January-June 2019, 574.2 thousand Russian tourists visited Spain, which is 13.2% higher than the figure for the same period a year earlier, according to the data of the country's National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The total tourist flow in the first half of the year grew by 2,8% - up to 38.174 million people. The United Kingdom traditionally becomes the leader with 8,309 million tourists (a decrease of 1,4%). Germany is on the second position with 5,344 million tourists (+3,4%), France closes the TOP-3 with 4,698 million (-2,2%). In the first half of the year, the flow of tourists from the Netherlands also decreased by 3,8% - up to 1,671 million, Switzerland (-4,1%, to 781,7 thousand), and the Scandinavian countries (-6,6%, to 2,644 million).
In June, 8,828 million foreign tourists visited Spain, which is 3,2% more than last June. The Russian tourist flow in the first summer month grew by 5,6% - up to 180,1 thousand people. In June, tourist flow from the UK decreased by 5,3% - up to 2,058 million, Germany - grew by 8,4%, to 1,307 million, France - grew by 8%, to 967 thousand.
In the first half of the year, 8,877 million tourists (+ 2.5%) visited Catalonia, the Canary Islands – 6,605 million (-2,8%), Andalusia – 5,646 million (+ 6.3%), the Balearic Islands – 5,540 million (+1,9%), the autonomous community of Valencia – 4,147 million (+ 1%), Madrid – 3,855 million (+ 10.9%).
