Resorts of Egypt are opening again
On July 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin canceled decree banning charter flights to Egyptian resorts. Tour operators can again arrange and sell tours with direct flights to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
Egypt is counting on the return of tourism from Russia in the very near future in connection with the cancellation of the decree banning charter flights to Egyptian resorts.
According to the Ministry of Tourism of Egypt, in the first 6 months of 2021, about 3,5 million foreign tourists visited the country, which brought the Egyptian budget from 3,5 to 4 billion dollars. This is almost as much as Egypt received from tourism for the entire 2020. Due to the pandemic, revenues from the tourism sector in comparison with 2019 fell by 70% to $ 4 billion.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Gada Shalabi said that over the next 6 months, the country's authorities expect an increase by 45-60% in inbound tourism compared to the same period last year. The average tourist spending per night is about $ 95 this year, she said.
According to Egyptian experts, the number of Russian tourists in Egypt this year will range from 500 000 to 1 million. A dynamic growth in tourist arrivals from Russia to the resorts of Egypt is expected in the autumn.
The study mentions a package of decisions taken by the Ministry of Tourism to improve the quality of tourism services. Among them is a minimum price for 4 and 5* hotels of the Red Sea resorts, which are the main preferences for Russian tourists.
The minimum price per night at a 5* hotels is $ 40, at a 4* hotels - $ 28.The implementation of this solution will begin in November 2021.
