Egypt leads in sales of travel agencies in December

Egypt is the leader among vacation destinations in terms of sales of travel agencies, while prices for December tours decreased by about 20% before the New Year, reports the press service of the Russian Union of Travel Industry.

"According to the Last Minute Travel Store network, Egypt now is the leader among vacation destinations in sales of travel agencies, accounting for 26,5% of the total volume. Prices for the destination have decreased by an average of 20% since the beginning of November. Vacation package for two persons with flight on charter flight costs $ 1288, and three weeks ago such a tour cost $ 1 660. From November 30 until New Year, tourists can buy a week's tour to a good 4* hotel for two persons for $ 983," the statement says.

The popularity of the destination is facilitated by a large selection of charter and regular transportation and hotels for a wide range of budgets. At the same time, the price reduction will not be long-term - with the approach of New Year's dates, prices in hotels will rise.

The Russian Express company reported that from December 01 in Egypt prices for tickets to museums and for excursion services have been increased, so excursion tours will become more expensive.

As it follows from the index of the Last Minute Travel Store chain, Thailand is slightly behind Egypt, its share in travel agency sales is 24,4%. Also in the top five are Russia, Turkey and Cuba.
