Holidays in December: TOP 5 travel destinations for Russians

More than 84% of tours booked by organized tourists for December 2023 are in 5 countries, including Russia, but the places of some leaders in the TOP 5 have changed again. Thailand has the highest average tour price in December, and tourist spending for tours to Egypt, the UAE and Turkey in December decreases compared to November.

According to Sletat.ru, the shares of destinations were distributed as follows: Egypt - 26%, UAE - 19%, Thailand - 18%, Turkey - 8% and Russia - 6%. Next in the list of interests among aggregator users are Sri Lanka and Cuba (5% each), the Maldives with 3%, India and Vietnam with 2%.

In real sales the picture is different. Thus, the share of Egypt among tours booked for December is 32%. The second place is occupied by Thailand with 17%, the third place - by the UAE with 16%. The TOP 5 also includes Russia with 12% of sold tours and Turkey with 7%.

The Top-10 sales of tours with arrival in December after TOP-5 includes Cuba and Sri Lanka with 5% for both countries, Vietnam (2%), Maldives (1,2%) and Abkhazia (0,7%).

Compared to November, December shows a remarkable increase in the share of tour sales to the UAE. The share of Egypt is growing, the share of sales of Russia and Thailand is stable and in Turkey it is declining in accordance with seasonality.

As it can be seen from a comparison of search preferences and real sales, tourists make a choice in favor of cheaper destinations: Egypt, where the average tour price fell by 43%, the United Arab Emirates, which fell in price for a short time in the first half of December, and Russia (where tours are shorter and the average price is low).
