Tour operators spoke about popular countries among Russians in autumn
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia has identified the leading foreign destinations that Russians preferred for autumn holidays in 2023.
In autumn of 2023 the tourist flow of Russians to the main foreign tourist destinations amounted to about 4,2 million trips, which was 34% more than in the same period in 2022. It is clarified that the main increase was achieved due to the expansion of the range of countries available for travel.
In accordance with the statistics, only 10 countries have from 75 to 82% of all sales of tours. These are Turkey, Russia, UAE, Egypt, Abkhazia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Cuba, Maldives and Seychelles.
Turkey became the leader in tourist flow. It is noted that part of this flow are tourists flying to the third countries with short stops in Istanbul.
Abkhazia is in the second place. According to preliminary estimates, for the three autumn months of 2023, about 896 000 Russian tourists arrived in this country.
The third place was taken by the United Arab Emirates, where at least 365 thousand tourists from Russia arrived this autumn, which is a 91% increase compared to the last period.
A little more than 296 000 Russian tourist visited Egypt, which is 3 times more than last year. Thailand closes the top five, which was approximately visited by a little more than 196 thousand tourists from Russia.
Then the TOP was distributed as follows:
The Maldives: approximately 48,5 thousand tourists from Russian Federation;
Cuba: approximately 41 thousand;
Sri Lanka: 18,7 thousand;
Seychelles: slightly less than 9,7 thousand.
