By the end of 2023, Malaysia received 110,000 tourists from Russia. The country expects to see more than 140,000 Russian travelers in 2024. This was announced by the Ambassador of Malaysia to Russia, Date Chong Lung Lai.

The top budget destinations includes Sri Lanka and Thailand, where the price starts from $ 574 per person. Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia also are there - prices there start from $ 1 025.

The volume of Russian tourist flow for the first three months of 2023 has already exceeded the forecasts of the Malaysian tourism authorities for this period.

In 2023, Malaysia plans to restore the Russian tourist flow to the level of 2019, when almost 80 000 Russians visited the country. In the first month of 2023 alone, Malaysia received 14,3 thousand Russians, which is almost 50% of the total volume of 2022 and 20% of the forecasted values for 2023.

Two Southeast Asian countries popular among tourists - Indonesia with its resort island Bali, as well as Malaysia - have been added to the range of tours by the Russian tour operator Anex Tour.

Cambodia is hosting the 40th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) from January 16 to 22, 2022 at Sokha Beach Resort, Sihancouville, the country's main seaport and beach resort located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand.

In 2019, the Russian tourist flow to Malaysia has increased by 10-11%. Tour operators announce their readiness to expand their product range in Malaysia in 2020.

Analysts from the tourist search resource Aviasales examined airline reservations for 2019 with flights to 185 countries and found out how long, on average, travelers have holidays in certain destinations.

The flow of tourists from Russia to Malaysia amounted to about 73 thousand people in 2018, which is more than 7% higher than in 2017. This year, the positive trend continues, and it is obvious that interest in the destination will continue to grow.

“Malaysia plans to attract more tourists from Russia, primarily from its Asian part - Siberia and Far East”, said the Deputy Minister of the local Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of the country, Mohammed Bakhtiyar Van Chick. According to him, in previous year Malaysia hosted 52 thousand Russian tourists, it is expected that by the end of this year their number will reach 100 thousand.
