Malaysia decided to double the number of Russian tourists
“Malaysia plans to attract more tourists from Russia, primarily from its Asian part - Siberia and Far East”, said the Deputy Minister of the local Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of the country, Mohammed Bakhtiyar Van Chick. According to him, in previous year Malaysia hosted 52 thousand Russian tourists, it is expected that by the end of this year their number will reach 100 thousand.
Also Malaysia try to attract tourists from the countries of Central Asia, primarily Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. At the same time, the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Council, (Tourism Malaysia), which has an office in Moscow is fully engaged in promotion of the country in all areas.
Also, according to Mohammed Bakhtiyar Van Chick, Malaysia is counting on the growth of air transportation for increasing tourist traffic. For example, Qatar Airways plans to start flights to Langkawi in April this year. So, it will significantly promote to increase the number of tourists on the island. According to him, the ministry will continue to encourage international airlines to include Langkawi in their routes network in order to attract more tourists to the island.
