Malaysia expects an increase in the number of Russian tourists
By the end of 2023, Malaysia received 110,000 tourists from Russia. The country expects to see more than 140,000 Russian travelers in 2024. This was announced by the Ambassador of Malaysia to Russia, Dato Cheong Loon Lai.
"In 2023, the number of Russian tourists visiting Malaysia increased significantly. We received 110,000 visitors from the Russian Federation, 37% more than the pre pandemic figures. These numbers exceed our expectations, and we are thrilled about this increase," he said during a press conference in Moscow. The ambassador added that one of the main reasons for the increased tourist flow is the visa-free regime for Russian passport holders. “In addition, Malaysia has a rich cultural heritage influenced by the traditions of various countries, convenient transport options, and offers good value for money," he added.
