Sales of Turkey in Russia fell to almost zero
Turkey's sales in Russia have fallen to almost zero - such shocking news is voiced by the Turkish travel newspaper Turizmguncel.
The reasons for this situation were explained by Orkhan Sankar, a representative of Pegas Touristik in the CIS countries. He named three main reasons: the increase of prices in rubles for tours to Turkey, the general uncertainty of the Russian market, as well as the increased role of Turkey's competitors.
Prices for holidays in Turkey in Russia increased by 50-100% in rubles. In addition, Russian tourists have become more cautious in long-term purchases of tours. So, the main volume of sales falls on the last 1-4 weeks before departure. At the moment, euro exchange rate is 80 rubles, which also affects the sale of tours.
At the same time, the representative of Pegas Touristik also noted the serious role of competing areas. We are talking primarily about holidays in Thailand, which is currently actively sold in Russia. Charter airlines such as Azur, Red Wings and PegasFly also fly there.
Also, according the expert, a holiday program to Vietnam with VietJet through Kazakhstan is developing. Besides, even "the share of Egypt has shifted towards Thailand," said Mr. Sankar (the reason is more difficult transportation). Also among the competitors are Cuba and Venezuela.
