Tourist flow from Russia to the Aegean coast of Turkey increased by a quarter in 2022
In 2022, Russia took the second place in terms of tourist flow to the Mugla province in Turkey, where the resorts of the Aegean Sea are located. The number of Russian tourists has grown by 26% compared to 2021, according to statistics from the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Turkish province.
Great Britain became the leader in this region, from where almost 1,3 million tourists came. The flow of tourists from Russia is 3,5 times lower – 362,4 thousand. The third place was taken by Germany (219,6 thousand). The TOP-5 also included Poland (173,8 thousand) and the Netherlands (107,1 thousand).
In total, the resorts of the Aegean coast of Turkey (Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye-Oludeniz, Dalaman and others) were visited by 2,97 million foreign travelers in January-December 2022, which is 2,7 times more than in 2021.
According to statistics, most often tourists arrived through Dalaman airport – 1,55 million arrivals, of which 985,8 thousand were English and 185,3 thousand were Russian tourists. Bodrum Airport is in the second place with 977,7 thousand travelers. The port of Marmaris closes the Top-3: 97,8 thousand guests arrived in the province by sea.
