Russia is holding its positions on the Serbian market
Russia, despite the times of crisis, has held the positions on the Serbian market. In January-July 2016, 24 408 Russian tourists visited Serbia – about as much as in the same period a year ago. At the same time Russia is the absolute leader among all the countries in the duration of stay in Serbia. Most often, the Russian tourists come for 3.1 days, which means that they are not limited only by city-breaks in Belgrade or Novi Sad, but additionally continue their journey to the other regions of the country. According to the statistics of the Russian border, for the first half of 2016 “excursion Serbia” showed a decline by 17.7% against the same period of the last year. However, in mid-summer, the flow began to grow. As the Director of the National Tourism Organization of Serbia Mary Labovic said, the interest of Russians to visit Serbia is stimulated by direct flights to Belgrade from St. Petersburg (in addition from Moscow), as well as a visa-free regime and the possibility to exchange Russian rubles for dinars in the Serbia.
