Million Russian tourists visited Dominican Republic over the past four years

Dominican Republic Ambassador to Moscow Jose Manuel Castillo said that in 2020 Russia became the third largest source market in the world and first among European countries with 1 million visitors over the past four years.

“Russia has recently become the third largest tourist market after the United States and Canada with more than 240 thousand tourists a year,” the diplomat said. He recalled that in 2017, Russian tourism “showed a big jump - 82%” in the Dominican Republic.

According to him, Russian tourists are among the best in the Dominican Republic by spending. They spend an average of $ 150 per day per person, which is a total of $ 1,5 billion for the four years.

The ambassador noted that the average annual growth rate of tourism in the Dominican Republic is 5%, and from 2012 to 2019 the growth exceeded 9,7% (45,2 million visitors).
