Dominican Republic hotels reduce prices for Russian tourists
The first 9 months of this year were difficult for the Russian tourist flow to the Dominican Republic - according to official statistics, Russians came here a little less than last year. However, the changes that are happening on the destination today, according to experts, are changing the situation with sales for the better.
“For the period from January to September 2019, the Dominican Republic was visited by 141 083 Russian tourists, which is 5,21% lower than last year,” said Galina Lysenko, the head of the representative office of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic in Russia,
“Yes, the demand has declined, but we have every reason to believe that the upcoming winter season will be successful and volumes will increace,” G. Lysenko emphasized.
The expert connect a positive forecast for tourist flow with several factors – these are the expansion of flight programs of tour operators, more active cooperation of players with the new regions of the country and the loyal position of Dominican hoteliers on the Russian market.
Ms. Lysenko recalled that this year tour operators increased their volumes due to new regional departure points. This winter, the strategic partner of the tour operator Anex Tour, Azur Air, will fly from two new cities - Yekaterinburg and Kazan, and will continue to operate flights from St. Petersburg and Moscow. All flights of the tour operator from January 1, 2019 are operated to La Romana Airport.
Despite the fact that for Russian tourists the Dominican Republic is still a favorite resort among Caribbean destinations, the country experiences some discomfort from Cuba's strengthened position, and so, in order to stimulate the Russian tourist flow, the country's hotels reduce prices and actively give discounts for autumn winter season, in some cases, the discount reaches 30%.
