Etihad Airways launches the second flight from Abu Dhabi to Moscow
From October 27, 2019 to May 10, 2020 Etihad Airways launches its second daily flight from Abu Dhabi to Domodedovo Airport. An additional flight operated by Airbus A320 will provide more convenient flight options between the two capitals — now passengers can choose a day or night flight both from Abu Dhabi and from Moscow. Thanks to two daily flights, one of which is carried out on the wings of Airbus A321, the guests will appreciate the improved connections at Etihad Airways hub airport, which will make it possible to travel more comfortably along the airline’s route network to Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Maldives, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
Since the beginning of flights of this airline to Moscow in 2008, the route has become very popular both for business and leisure. The addition of a second flight demonstrates how important the Russian market is for Abu Dhabi.
The UAE is in the TOP-10 most popular destinations for the Russians. According to the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, for 9 months of 2018, 514.9 trips were made to the UAE for tourist purpose, which is by 45.5% more than in the same period of 2017. According to statistics from the UAE, in 2018 the country was visited by 820 thousand Russian tourists. Experts wait for further growth of the tourist flow from Russia to the UAE. The intergovernmental agreement on the abolition of visa regime between Russia and the UAE, signed in July 2018, entered into force on February 17. Now, citizens of Russia and the UAE have the right to stay in both countries for 90 days during each 180-day period without a visa. From February 2017, Russians obtain free UAE visas upon arrival for a period of 30 days with the possibility of extension for another 30 days.
