Armenia counts on 1.5 million Russian tourists
Armenia is ready to host up to 1.5 million tourists from Russia annually - such data was presented by the Armenian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Vardan Toganyan. According to him, at the moment the share of Russian tourists is half of foreign tourists visiting Armenia, including tourists of combined tours.
Also, according to him, over the past 10 years there has been a steady increase in the number of Russian tourists visiting Armenia. In 2018 alone, the number of Russian tourists visiting Armenia increased by 17% compared with the previous year, reaching about 600,000 people. The ambassador explained the growth by a variety of factors, including visa-free regime between countries, allowing Russian citizens to visit Armenia with their internal passport.
Also, there are no problems with transportation - 15 everyday flights are made from major Russian cities to Armenia. “A vast majority (90%) of flights to Armenia is carried out by Russian airlines, with which we have established warm and mutually beneficial relations,” he said.
The Ambassador also stressed the importance of media projects implemented in Russia (press tours, festivals, seminars), which promote and create a good image of the Republic of Armenia.
