80 000 Russian tourists annually visit the island of Tenerife in Spain
As Nuria Lorenzo Gutierrez, the representative of the Tenerife Tourism Office, said, about 80 thousand Russian tourists annually come to Tenerife, which is just over 1% of the total foreign tourist flow. “Generally, the tourist flow from Russia to Tenerife is 79-80 thousand people per year, which is 1,3% of the total number of foreigners. This is a stable source market, the number of tourists has not changed for several years. As a rule, Russians refuse to rest in Tenerife because they think the resort is too expensive. But this is not entirely true, since we have hotels for different budget," she said during the presentation of the gastronomic opportunities of the island.
According to her, Tenerife is most often visited by tourists from other regions of Spain (45,6%), as well as from the UK (27%), Germany (7,8%), Belgium (2,8%), the Netherlands (2,3%) ) and Italy (2,2%). "Taking into account the bankruptcy situation with the British tour operator Thomas Cook, we reoriented to other foreign markets, so this situation did not affect the island’s tourism industry," Gutierrez added.
