In one week, Aeroflot will resume direct flights on the Moscow-Colombo-Moscow route, suspended due to the delay of the airline's aircraft in early June.
According to the Ministry of Tourism of Sri Lanka, Russia remains the third largest source market for this state. This year, more than 50 000 Russian tourists visited the island country.
As per Aeroflot booking system, flights from Moscow to Colombo will be operated by Airbus A330 aircraft. Flights are scheduled on Thursdays and Sundays.
In October-November, air tickets for flights to Colombo on an Aeroflot flight will cost from $ 980 round trip.
Flights for the New Year are expectedly more expensive: from $ 2 303 round trip.
According to tour operators, the resumption of Aeroflot's direct flights to Sri Lanka will revive demand for the destination. Moreover, tickets for direct transportation are lower than for connecting flights.
As specialists of Russian Express tour operator report, it makes sense to book tours to Sri Lanka in advance, since nowadays there are inexpensive tickets on sale for the autumn period or the end of January-February.
“For some periods, for example, in October, Aeroflot's tariffs are more profitable than those of foreign airlines. For example, on October 20, the tariffs of Russian carrier are from $ 980 RT while Air Arabia on the same dates has tariff from $ 1 719 in both directions,” Ambotis Holidays said.
Fun&Sun specialists underline that connecting flights to Sri Lanka, which are carried out mainly through the UAE, will cost in autumn 20-25% more than direct flights.
“Direct flights of Aeroflot are the most cost-effective so far,” both Intourist and Pac Group agree.
