The number of tourist flights to Crete will decrease
Tour operators have begun to adjust flight programs from Moscow to the Greek island of Crete. So, ANEX Tour since July 25 more than half reduces its volume in the direction: instead of five weekly flights Azur Air to Heraklion will be only two. "Analyzing the demand, we came to the conclusion that it would be right to optimize the program to reduce the risks of unloading flights", - said the Deputy director-general of the operator Jan Muromov. Since the flights are carried out by Boeing 737 800 liners with a capacity of 189 seats, as a result of the reduction the total number of seats will decrease by about 570 seats per week. In addition, some time ago tour operator Muzenidis Travel removed one weekly frequency from Moscow to another Crete airport - Chania: now one flight is performed instead of two ones. According to the Head of Muzenidis Alexander Tsandekidi, the decision to fly to Chania was taken rather late, in April. Within the framework of early booking actions, the operator has sold not large volumes and current demand is not enough to fill the air boards. It is noted that the current adjustments are the first relatively large in the summer season. Observers expect the activation of demand for tours abroad, including the Greek Crete, after completion of the World Cup in Russia. In combination with a reduction of volume of air transportation, this can lead to an increase of the cost of tours to more profitable level.
