Russia’s Far Eastern city receives first Japanese ‘culture tourists

The guests, who have come to the port city of Vladivostok onboard the cruise ship, will be able to see the famous Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake ballet at the Primorsky Theater of Opera and Ballet. More than 300 Japanese citizens have become the first tourists to arrive in Russia’s Far Eastern city Vladivostok as part of a cultural tourism program, a spokesperson for the local theater said on Monday. The guests, who have come to the port city of Vladivostok onboard the Pacific Venus cruise ship, will be able to see the famous Swan Lake ballet composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky at the Primorsky Theater of Opera and Ballet. "This is the first experience of receiving foreign spectators who have arrived under the cultural tourism program," Elena Sabinina said, adding that the talks on the program of the trip were launched this spring. "One month ahead of embarking on a cruise, all the tourists already had the tickets. The Swan Lake ballet was chosen taking into consideration the wish of the Japanese guests," Sabinina said. The theater has accessibility for disabled people, she added. The guests will be also able to take pictures of the Japanese ballerinas on the stage after the performance.
