A National standard for sustainable tourism will be developed in Russia
The financial development institution DOM.RF is working on this project together with the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RUTI) with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development.
The criteria of the standard will focus on environmental, social and economic aspects, and it will become a tool for evaluating the “green” facilities of the hospitality industry, the press service of DOM.RF reported.
It is noted that the new standard will be called “Green Standards. Buildings and Structures of Tourism Infrastructure. Methodology for Assessing Compliance with the Principles of Sustainable Development” and will be focused on people - their safety, comfort, support for a healthy lifestyle and family values, preservation of the cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia, involvement of small businesses and implementation of social projects.
The draft document will be submitted for public discussion by the end of 2025 and may come into force as early as 2026.
