Italy rapidly rises in the ranking of preferences of the Russians
According to the data of the FSB Border Service of Russia, for 9 months of this year, Italy showed a significant growth of the number of departures among Russian tourists. If during the same months of 2018, the destination increased in volumes by 16%, then for the same period in 2019 – by 22,3%. Tour operators, in general, have confirmed this trend.
Oksana Volkanova, Ics Travel Group's Development Director, even noted the excitement in the Italian destination. “This country occupies the third place in our assortment of sales. Depending on the season, tours with arrival to seven cities of Italy are in demand. We plan next year to expand the number of programs and increase volumes. In the winter, tourists traveled to Italy for a week, in the summer they spent up to ten days there. The average price for a trip this year was 55,4 thousand Rubles (785 Euros) - said Ms. Volkanova. “You can fly to the country with both a budget Pobeda Airline and a comfortable Aeroflot. The volume of transportation is quite enough.”
Yulia Andryushchenko, the head of Vand company’s Italy department, also believes that there is really a lot of transportation in the destination. “But it's even good. From this year, Pobeda Airline began to fly to Pisa, Genoa, Rimini, Bergamo, Bari and Palermo. S7 Airlines performs the year-round chain to Bari. Due to the sharp competition, the price of transportation has become very affordable. It is possible to make RT flight for € 130-140 on the boards of S7 Airlines, the ticket cost for Pobeda flights is a little more than € 100,” she said.
According to the head of the Italian department of Pac Group, Julia Berdnikova, the optimization of the boards in the destination made it possible for the market to act without dumping and massive special offers. The highest demand was for the resorts on the Adriatic coast, Sardinia and Sicily.
