From January to March 2020, 5,5 million foreigners visited Russia. Of these, 322,8 thousand people came with tourist purposes. This is 140 thousand less than in the same period last year. Inbound flow to Russia fell in almost all destinations.
The main flow of foreigners into Russia is from the post-Soviet countries. The leaders, as in the previous year, are Ukraine (1,5 million, minus 8,8%), Kazakhstan (742 thousand, -14,7%), Uzbekistan (597,5 thousand, -5,9%) and Tajikistan (371 thousand, -4,5%). The fifth line in the first quarter of 2020 is occupied by Azerbaijan (220,3 thousand, -14,2%).
In the same period of the last year, China was in the fifth place demonstrating an increase in the flow to Russia from 10 to 20% during the year. This year (from January to March), China fell to the 11-th place, after Kyrgyzstan (200,2 thousand, -2,6%), Finland (167,4 thousand, -16,2%), Armenia (146,3 thousand, -15,1%), Abkhazia (136 thousand, + 5%) and Poland (117,6 thousand, -28,8%).
Incoming tourist flow in the first quarter of 2020 literally “collapsed”. In total, from January to March 2020, 322,8 thousand foreigners visited Russia with tourist purposes. This is 31,3% less than in the same period last year.
From South Korea 29,7 thousand tourists come to Russia. This is 50% less than in the same period last year. In the third place in terms of inbound tourist flow is Germany - 21 thousand, minus 9,6%.
Israel is in the fourth place with 18,7 thousand (-24.3%), France closes TOP-5, the tourist flow from which remained at the level of the last year (17,7 thousand).
