Aksenov ruled out the possibility of receiving tourists from other countries in Crimea
The head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, believes that this year only internal tourism is possible on the peninsula due to the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection.
“There will be no foreign tourism. Everyone understands this. As for domestic tourism, if there are corresponding conditions, we will definitely go for the implementation of such a program. I will ask the head of Russia to support,” Aksyonov said.
He urged not to give false hope to hoteliers who are investing in preparations for the holiday season, and promised the maximum possible support from the authorities to the tourism industry.
Recently, Aksyonov said that the holiday season on the peninsula this year "is unlikely to take place." Booking of rooms in Crimean hotels and resorts is prohibited until June 1, tourists began to leave the peninsula in early April.
In 2019, Crimea hosted a record number of vacationers – 7,43 million people, which is 9,3% more than in 2018.
