German citizens, who interested in culture and history, prefer trips to Russia
German citizens do not go on holiday to Russia too often. Tourists who are interested in culture and history prefer Russia as a purpose of their trip, said Kerstin Heinen, spokeswoman for the German Travel Industry Association (DRV).
"Russia is always in great demand among travelers interesting in culture and is popular for group tours. The country is not in the top ten favorite destinations for Germans," said Heinen.
As she said, on average, citizens of Germany make about 70 million trips a year. According to the data for 2017, 500 thousand trips were registered from Germany to Russia, this number includes business and tourist trips.
“It's a relatively small market,” said a spokeswoman.
Recently German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, said that from June 15, the German authorities will cancel warnings for citizens of the country concerning EU countries, the Schengen zone and the UK.
Maas added that the German authorities will make further decisions on cancelation of the ban on trips to the so-called "third countries", including Russia, based on the development of the situation in the countries.
