Federal Tourism Agency denied the introduction of visa-free regime with Saudi Arabia
The Federal Tourism Agency stated on October 17 that the information concerning the introduction of a visa-free regime between Russia and Saudi Arabia is incorrect.
During a state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Saudi Arabia, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Rostourism and the Commission on Tourism and the National Heritage of Saudi Arabia. According to the Federal Tourism Agency, a possible visa-free regime, as well as the issue of opening direct flights between Russia and Saudi Arabia, was being discussed during the meeting.
In late September, Saudi Arabia began issuing tourist visas to citizens of 51 countries, including Russia. The cost of the document, which can be issued both in the Internet and upon arrival, is $ 118.
According to tour operators, the introduction of visa-free regime will undoubtedly provoke a certain interest for the country from tourists. However, there is no need to talk about large tourist flows to Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, the region has a certain potential and it will be revealed when a visa-free regime is introduced, as well as direct flights from Russia. According to observers, regular flights can be opened in case of guaranteed demand for trips in this country.
