Cyprus 2020: forecast
According to Russian tour operators, if flights to Cyprus start in August (Aeroflot flights to Larnaca are scheduled since August 1), the demand for destinations in the second half of the season will be active.
As the representatives of Ics Travel Group tour operator said, a short flight is an advantage for Cyprus, which is an important factor in condition of a possible flight in masks and gloves.
Experts also agree with the tour operator Coral Travel that the demand for resorts in Cyprus in the second part of the season will be noticeable. “August and September are the active beach season in Cyprus,” they emphasize.
Representatives of Tez Tour positively assess the prospects of the demand for Cyprus. According to them, a positive trend in sales of the destination was observed even at the initial stage of early booking, and by the time the borders were closed, the demand exceeded the last year's figures by 2 times, and the booking depth reached October.
According to Intourist experts, those tourists whose vacation did not take place in March-May will fly to Cyprus first. The effect of “deferred demand” will work in the area. Tourists will actively book tours for September and October.
If we look at the statistics of the last season, from the point of view of the dynamics of the Russian tourist flow the second half of summer was successful in Cyprus. So, the largest number of Russian tourists visited Cyprus in September: almost 120 thousand (+ 2,9% compared to the same month of 2018). This is more than at the peak of the season - in July (115,6 thousand) and in August (115,7 thousand).
According to the Cypriot authorities, in 2019, almost 782 thousand Russians visited the country. The Russian market was in the second place after the traditional leader in terms of entry - the UK.
