Bulgaria wants to expand air traffic with Russia

Russia and Bulgaria will continue close cooperation in the field of tourism. The Bulgarian side is interested in the soonest restoration of the tourist flow from Russia. Due to the pandemic, it fell several times.

According to the Ministry of Tourism of Bulgaria, as of October 2021, about 36 thousand Russian tourists stayed at Bulgarian hotels for vacation, of which 85% - in the summer season.

The main tourist destinations for Russian travelers were Sofia and Varna (about 6 900 tourists), Nessebar (over 4 000 tourists), as well as Balchik, Burgas and Plovdiv.

As the Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria Stella Baltova emphasizes, the main task of Bulgaria on the Russian market is to restore the tourist flow to pre-pandemic volumes.

In 2019, the total number of arrivals of Russian tourists to Bulgaria was about 450 thousand, of which more than 355 thousand (80%) - to the country's beach resorts in the summer season.
