The Ajman Department of Tourism Development concluded the first edition of the “Al Murabbaa Arts Festival”, under the slogan of “Inspired by Yesterday to Imagine Tomorrow”, which reflected the historical aspects of civilization in the Emirates and its close connection with the past and its ability to preserve the cultural heritage and build bridges with the new generations. More than 20,000 visitors attended this event, during which 64 performances and workshops were held by more than 170 artists. The first edition of the festival, which took place at the Ajman Heritage District surrounding the Ajman Museum, achieved a remarkable success in terms of attendance from a huge number of participating artists, innovators, and talents who engaged in several indoor and outdoor activities, daily workshops and seminars, in addition to cultural events and musical performances suitable for every taste.
During the festival, Ajman Tourism organized the first arts auction in Ajman, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Dubai. The auction presented 20 artistic pieces for sale in support of their creators and the sustainability of their artwork. As for the workshops program of the festival, it included plenty of activities such as pottery, medal carving, space design from a Feng Shui perspective, shaping ceramic mugs and plates using natural clay, drop-in drawing, fashion design, calligraphy, observational drawing, mobile photography, 2D paper cutting, cuttlefish casting in silver, jewelry and accessories design, and wood burning, in addition to a special coronavirus sculpture demonstration.
The festival also offered a stage program that included performances on the Qanun and Oud instruments, musical performances by Levelz band, Caty Deniset, and Benna Duo band, and a comedy show by Abz Aly.
The second edition of Al Murabba Arts Festival next year will include an international participation from creative minds and talents, in addition to engaging with global agencies to display their latest artworks, organizing a theatrical performance competition, showcasing NFT works, and holding training sessions for artists to join the world of digital arts.
His Excellency Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, stated that the directives of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, and the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, along with their extended support for cultural events, have greatly contributed to the success of this festival that achieved Ajman’s vision in preserving the true Emirati heritage and local traditions, as well as shedding light on its valuable cultural assets and customs.
