Aeroflot resumes direct Moscow-Seychelles flights for summer season
Aeroflot has announced the resumption of regular direct flights between Moscow (Sheremetyevo) and the Seychelles, starting July 8. The national carrier will operate on this route during the summer season after a temporary pause, having previously served the destination only in the autumn, winter, and spring periods. Flights will be conducted on Airbus A350 aircraft featuring a three-class configuration (Economy, Comfort, and Business). Tickets are already on sale. Fights are scheduled twice weekly for Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The move comes amid ongoing discussions about year-round service. In April, Seychelles Minister of Transport Veronica Laporte confirmed that island authorities and Aeroflot were in talks regarding a potential all-year-round flight program. That same month, Seychelles Foreign Minister Barry Faure indicated that such year-round operations could potentially be launched as early as 2027. Notably, a year-round flight program on this route has existed before—it was operated in 2023 and was also planned for the summer of 2024, but was cancelled just before that season began.
Currently, besides Aeroflot, the Seychelles are served by several other major carriers. These include Ethiopian Airlines (operating from Domodedovo with a stopover in Addis Ababa), Emirates and FlyDubai (from Domodedovo and Vnukovo via Dubai), and Qatar Airways (from Sheremetyevo via Doha), among other Middle Eastern airlines.
Russia became the top source market for the Seychelles in the first five months of 2026, with Aeroflot credited as a major driver. ATOR (Association of Tour Operators of Russia) estimates that the airline’s summer seat capacity could nearly double Russian arrivals. Direct flights have a clear impact: in summer 2023, when Aeroflot flew, monthly visits stood at 3,000–3,400; in 2024, without direct service, they dropped to 1,600–1,800. The resumed flights are expected to restore and significantly increase tourist numbers.
