Who and how will go to Dominica after simplifying the visa regime
On August 28, 2018, an agreement was entered into force on the introduction of a visa-free regime between Russia and Dominica for duration up to 90 days during each period of 180 days. Paradoxically, it will not help tourists in current conditions, even if they suddenly become interested in this Caribbean direction. On the Russian tourism market, this direction is almost unknown, it does not attract the attention of tour operators because of the small size of the country, poorly developed infrastructure, lack of direct flight and other factors. However, according to the data of the Dominica Ministry of Tourism, for the past 16 years, since 2001, this country was visited by more than 800 Russians. On average, there are 30 - 60 Russian citizens per year on the island. A significant part of Russian tourists come to the island as passengers of cruise liners. "The Caribbean as a whole is a direction for high-budget individual tourists, but Dominica has a very weak hotel base and a complicated flight", - says Galina Bolshakova, the Head of the US, Caribbean and Canada department of Quinta Tour tourist company. She is sure that individual tourists unlikely choose Dominica as the destination of their trip. The interest of our tourists to the countries of the Caribbean has been actively growing lately, a variety of package tours and new flights are being offered in this direction. For Russian tourists who will want to visit Dominica, there are options for visa-free flights. The simplest of them is to make a direct flight to Dominican Republic, and then make a flight by local Caribbean airlines to Dominica. But for an ordinary tourist it is quite a complicated route.
