Tourist flow from China to Russia grew by a third in the first half of the year
“The number of tourists from China to Russia, as a part of organized groups by a visa-free channel, increased by 36% in January-June 2017 in comparison with the same period of the last year”, - said the press service of Rosturizm.
"In the list of popular destinations among Chinese tourists Moscow traditionally leads. From January to June Moscow was visited by 127.5 thousand tourists from PRC, which is 21% more than in the same months of the last year", - added Rosturizm.
On the second place in popularity among Chinese tourists is Primorsky Territory. In the first half of 2017 the region was visited by 67.1 thousand tourists, or 16% more than in the same period a year earlier. On the third place is St. Petersburg, in which 51.7 thousand tourists from China arrived in January-June.
"Tourists from China are increasingly discovering the other regions of Russia, mainly in the Far East. Amur Region was visited by 33.2 thousand Chinese tourists in the first half of 2017, which is 67% more than in 2016. Novosibirsk region - 9.3 thousand, or 41% more than in 2016. Irkutsk region was visited by 8,500 tourists, growth was 15%, Baikal Territory - almost 7 000, Khabarovsk Territory - 4.6 thousand", - the report says.
