The Russian border crossing by vehicle may become fee-paying

“The Russian Ministry of Transport has proposed to introduce a fee-paying crossing of the state border by vehicles and cargo trains. It is assumed, that money will be spent on infrastructure development of the border check passes”, - reported "Kommersant" on Thursday. As the newspaper writes, at the first stage automobile and railway border crossing points will became fee-paying. The rate of pay will depend on category of vehicle (passenger or cargo), and for trains - per ton of cargo. The Ministry of Transport has prepared a proposal to introduce a fee-paying in order to compensate reconstruction, construction and operation costs of border points. The terms of implementing and the amount of charge are not determined yet. According to the source, the Ministry proposes to create a united operator for collecting money, which will be similar to the "Platon" system, taking its elements as a basis for the introduction fee-paying.
