The number of "visa-free" Chinese tourists in Russia grew by 41% in 2016
“More than 760 000 "visa-free" tourists from China visited Russia in 2016, it is 41% more than in the previous year”, - said the press service of the Federal Tourism Agency.
"In 2016 we noted a huge increase of the tourist flow from China to Russia. In total, 325,000 tourists from China interested in the border regions, which is 45% more than in the previous year. Against 2015, 190 thousand tourists from China (58% growth) visited Primorsky Region, 43 500 tourists (158% more) - Irkutsk region. We are constantly expanding the geography of travels and range of offerings to meet the needs of Chinese tourists", - said the Head of the Federal Tourism Agency Oleg Safonov.
According to the Tourist Association "The World without Borders", last year 48% of all trips of tourists from China were to Moscow and St. Petersburg. These cities were visited by almost 365,000 Chinese tourists, which is 40% more than in the last year.
