The number of tourists from abroad visiting Moscow has increased by 10% in the first half of 2025.
Most of the visitors came from China, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Cuba. This increase in international tourism has a significant impact on the economy of the city.
During the first six months of this year, there were 500,000 more tourists from overseas than in the same period last year. China continues to lead the way, with India coming in second place after overtaking Turkey. Vietnam and Saudi Arabia have also made it into the top five.
At the same time, individual states are experiencing rapid growth, not only compared to the previous year, but also compared to the year before 2019, when the peak in foreign tourist flow was reached. In addition, over the past six months, the number of guests flying to Moscow from India has increased by 1.4 times, and the recovery compared to 2019 is 96%. Over the same period, the number of visitors from Vietnam has increased by 1.2 times, which is a recovery of 62% compared to 2019.
The total tourist flow to the capital in 2024 reached 26 million tourists, surpassing the pre-pandemic numbers. Revenues for the city's budget were estimated at over 3 billion dollars.
